Almost every sailing leaves from Ayia Napa Harbour, a short drive from villas in Ayia Napa, Agia Thekla and Nissi Beach, and roughly fifteen to twenty minutes from Protaras, Pernera and Kapparis. You cannot book a guaranteed encounter, and no responsible operator will promise one. The turtle safari sailing heads for the stretch of water where sightings are most common, and snorkeling gear on board means you can get in if one appears near the boat.
A scheduled trip puts you on a fixed route with other passengers at a per-person price, which keeps costs down and suits couples, families and smaller groups. A private charter gives you the whole boat with a captain and crew, priced for the vessel rather than the head, so you choose the departure time, the route and how long you spend at each swim stop. Charters usually make sense from around eight people upward, or for a celebration.
Several are built around families. The Black Pearl pirate cruise runs a costumed crew and activities aimed squarely at children, and lunch is included across its four hours. If four hours feels long, the two-hour Turtle Safari covers the same coastline in a shorter window. Child pricing applies on most sailings, life jackets are carried on board, and swim stops happen in sheltered bays rather than open water.
That depends on the mood you want. For a loud afternoon, the Fantasy Boat Party runs DJs, games and an opening bar period across roughly four hours. For something calmer at golden hour, the 70s and 80s disco cruise sails to the Blue Lagoon with dinner included and admits over sixteens only. Groups who want the deck to themselves usually take the Harmony private charter instead.
Ayia Napa Harbour is the main departure point for the sailings listed here, and most guests staying in Protaras, Pernera or near Fig Tree Bay simply drive or taxi across, which takes around fifteen to twenty minutes. If you would rather not travel at all, a private charter can often collect closer to home, and a swim at Fig Tree Bay makes a reasonable alternative on a day when you want to stay put.
Swimwear worn under your clothes saves changing on a moving deck, and a towel, high-factor sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses cover the essentials. Decks get hot underfoot, so something on your feet helps. Bring cash or a card for the onboard bar, since drinks are usually charged separately, and a dry bag or zip pouch keeps a phone safe during swim stops. Some boats ask you to bring your own towel, which we confirm when booking.
Sailings depend on sea conditions, and operators will move or cancel a departure rather than run it in rough water. Routes and swim stops can also change on the day, which is why most descriptions carry a weather-permitting note. If a cruise is cancelled outright, we deal with the operator on your behalf and sort either a new date within your stay or a refund, so you are not chasing a ticket desk while on holiday.
