Delivery covers villas across Protaras, Ayia Napa, Pernera, Kapparis, Paralimni and the surrounding villages. The car is at the property when you want it, with the keys handed over at the door, and it is collected from the same place at the end of your stay.

That matters in two situations. The first is a late arrival: flights into Larnaca land well into the evening, and an airport desk after a delayed flight is nobody's idea of a holiday. Take a transfer to the villa and have the car waiting the next morning instead. The second is a partial week, since plenty of guests want a car for three days of a seven-night stay rather than all seven, and delivery makes that straightforward in a way an airport collection never does.

Choose Your Car: Economy to 8-Seaters

All rates are per day and include CDW insurance. Daily prices fall as the hire lengthens, so a week costs considerably less per day than a single day. Security deposits vary by category and are shown against each group.

A note on what you are actually booking: cars are reserved by group rather than by model, which is standard practice across the industry. A booking in the Economy group guarantees a car of that size and specification, not a specific Suzuki Alto. Where transmission matters, and for most visitors driving on the left for the first time it does, book an automatic explicitly and we will confirm it.

Automatic and Manual Hire Cars

Roughly half the fleet is automatic, including most of the newer cars and every vehicle in the Family, Premium, SUV and People Carrier groups. Automatics book out first in July and August, so if one is important to you, ask early rather than at the last minute.

What Is Included in the Price

CDW insurance is included in every daily rate, which covers damage to the hire car itself subject to an excess. The security deposit shown against each vehicle group is the amount held against that excess, and several groups offer a reduction for an additional daily charge. Tyre and windscreen cover, which CDW does not include, is available separately at €2 per day and is worth considering given how much of Cyprus driving involves loose chippings on minor roads.

Driving in Cyprus: What Villa Guests Need to Know

Cyprus drives on the left, which is one less thing for British visitors to adjust to and one more for everyone else. Road signs carry distances in kilometres, and the motorway between Larnaca and the east coast resorts is fast and straightforward.

A UK photocard driving licence is valid for driving in Cyprus. Holders of an older paper licence may need to update it or carry the correct international driving permit alongside. [Source: UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office]

Distances on the east coast are short. Protaras to Ayia Napa takes a matter of minutes, Paralimni is closer still, and Larnaca is comfortably within an hour from most of our villas. That scale is what makes a hire car worthwhile: a beach in the morning, Cape Greco in the afternoon and dinner somewhere else entirely is a normal day rather than an expedition.

Parking is free and plentiful at most villas and at the majority of beaches outside peak hours. Ayia Napa in July and August is the exception, particularly near the harbor and Nissi Beach, where arriving before ten or after five saves a lot of circling.

Do You Actually Need a Car in Cyprus?

Not always, and it is worth thinking about honestly before booking one.

If you are staying in central Protaras or Ayia Napa, restaurants, beaches and shops are within walking distance, and a handful of taxis over a week may well cost less than a hire car. If the plan is a pool, a beach and a short walk to dinner, you can manage without.

A car earns its keep if you are staying in Pernera, Kapparis, Agia Thekla, Xylofagou or the villages around Paralimni, if you are travelling with small children and everything they require, if you want to shop for a self-catering week rather than eat out nightly, or if you intend to see Cape Greco, Larnaca, Famagusta or the Troodos rather than one stretch of coast.

Rental Terms and Requirements

Minimum driver age 23, with a licence held for at least three years. Drivers under 25 or over 70 pay an additional €5 per day. ISO-FIX baby seats and additional drivers cost €3 per day each; baby seats must be reserved in advance rather than requested on delivery. Fuel is paid in advance and is non-refundable. Cars are reserved by group, so the specific make and model cannot be guaranteed.

The over-70 supplement is worth flagging because several Cyprus rental companies decline older drivers outright. Ours does not; it charges the same €5 daily supplement as it does for drivers under 25.
